The other day I was browsing in Topshop, when I saw they had some of their makeup on sale. On impulse, I picked up two coloured mascaras, in the shades Night and Nettle. One was £2 and the other £4, but neither are on the website so I'd suggest popping into your local branch if you like them to see if they're there!
the photo of Pat McGrath's makeup on model Daria Strokous at Stella McCartney - the lashes are a bright electric blue, and I fell in love. Desperate to recreate the look I picked these up. Sadly, they don't perform quite as well as the mascara used in the photograph, but they're fun nonetheless!
As you can see, the navy blue Night is harder to spot on the lashes - but makes a very nice change in terms of colour from harsh black. Nettle is far more pigmented, and is a greeny-blue teal colour that works very well with my new matching hair.
Neither mascara is brilliantly curling, and both are a little clumpy, but they do add volume and length, and I didn't notice any smudging under the eyes after a day of wear.
For such a low price, if you can find them I'd snap them up! Makes a change from black, anyway!
Have you ever tried coloured mascara? Do you have a favourite shade?
