I thought I'd share with you an eyeshadow I picked up in Debenhams Duty Free Beauty sale today. It's a single Lancome Ombre Absolue shadow in the shade F60 Cuban Brown. I got it for £8.50, and there are many other shades to choose from. Normally their single eyeshadows can fetch from £15.50 - £18.50, so this is a good deal. If they are sold out online, I'd check out your local Debenhams, because there were a few shadows left when I went to have a look.
How lovely is the packaging? Very classic and black with the little gold Lancome rose in the corner. I also love the single shadow with the embossed rose, it's very cute.
When I picked up this shade, I brought it home and realised it may have a few things in common with some other shadows I have, so I compared it with the ones I thought might be a match:
|Clockwise from top: Lancome Ombre Absolue in F60 Cuban Brown; MAC Satin Taupe; MUA Shade 12; NARS Grand Palais|
At first, I thought this shade was going to be more grey than brown, but you can see that it is a soft, wearable brown taupe with a smooth, even texture and just enough pigment. I love it worn alone over the lid, as it has a satin finish but no discernible shimmer. It wears well and applies beautifully. Yes, the shadow is expensive (although, while on sale, not as expensive as a single MAC shadow) but I love this colour.
|L-R: Lancome F60 Cuban Brown; NARS Grand Palais light side; MAC Satin Taupe; MUA Shade 12.|
I was also pleasantly surprised to find not a single dupe in my collection. NARS Grand Palais is lighter, more golden, and has more shimmer. MAC Satin Taupe is darker and much more shimmery. MUA Shade 12, which is one of my favourite shadows of all time, is a complex copper brown and gunmetal duochrome.
All in all, I love this shadow as a butter-soft, brown taupe neutral. Have you got this shadow? Would you pick it up for this price?
