Hey everyone!
Before I start this post, I want to say I got the idea from the gorgeous and awesome Romzs over at Norwegian Elephant. Before you look at my post you should go check out her blog, it's great! Promise. I saw Romzs post on her Revlon lipstick collection and realised we had the same amount of lipsticks, and three shades the same also! Great minds...
Revlon are easily my favourite lipstick brand. Yes, more favourite than MAC. They are the brand I have the most lipsticks from, I love their creams and their mattes, and I also love their price point.
What is also awesome is that you can get some of these shades for a lot cheaper than retail on eBay. I'l put links below!
| L-R: Mauve it Over (Matte); Pink in the Afternoon; Kiss Me Coral; Cherries in the Snow; Wild Orchid; Black Cherry |
Mauve it Over is a peachy nude-brown matte, that goes with everything and wears brilliantly without drying out my lips. You can see it on my lips here. I definitely want more Revlon mattes if they are as good as this. US Ebay has it here for £2.51.
Pink in the Afternoon is a light, warm pink and a very recent addition to my collection which I have been loving. It's pigmented by soft and doesn't overwhelm my face. I think it's pretty neutral since it doesn't pull too blue or too yellow, although it's definitely a warmer pink. Amazon has it for £2.25.
Kiss Me Coral is a glossy, bright orange colour which pulls a little red. It is awesome and bright and actually doesn't make me look too mental - you can see a picture here. You can get this here on eBay, where the current bid is 99p.
Cherries in the Snow has been around since the 1950s, and is a bright, warm, blue based raspberry pink. I thought it would be more red but it's just very deep pink. You can see it on me here. It is not available for cheaper on eBay or Amazon, as far as I can see.
Wild Orchid is an almost metallic looking bright, blue pink. People have compared it to MAC's Show Orchid. You can get this on eBay for just over £4.
Black Cherry was one of the first Revlon lipsticks I ever got and it's a deep blackened red purple. You can see it on me here - I think it's a surprisingly flattering colour. It's another which is not cheaper on eBay or Amazon.
If you want to buy them from normal shops, Boots are currently running a 3 for 2. Here are the creams, here are the mattes, both are £7.49. They are the same price from Superdrug.
Have you got any Revlon lipsticks? Which are your favourites?

I absolutely love Black Cherry - I think it might be my favourite lipstick at the moment! I love to rub it into my lips as well and wear it as a stain. Wild Orchid is beautiful too by the looks of things... may have to treat myself! x

Black Cherry is probably my favourite too! It's so easy to wear as a stain, and it looks scary but is actually quite wearable! Wild Orchid is awesome - I think it's a pretty close dupe for MAC's Show Orchid too. You should! Revlon lipsticks are awesome :)

Black Cherry looks amazing! I love Revlon lippies, they are my favourite as well :) I really love Primrose, it's one of the few pinks I can wear.
ReplyDeleteGlad someone else loves them as much as I do! I've not seen Primrose in the shops but I just looked it up online and it looks lovely! Might have to hunt it down online!

I wish I was brave enough to wear something like black cherry it looks stunning on you. I really like blushed and I agree definately the best high street lipstick brand
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd be too scared to wear Black Cherry too, but you can wear it as a stain too so that's awesome! Thanks so much :D I'll have to check out Blushed as well. For sure, glad you agree!

I'm really getting into Revlon lip products at the moment I will defo check out pink in the afternoon now :)
ReplyDeleteYou should, it's brilliant! Revlon lip stuff is awesome - and I think after all the hype surrounding the lip butters more people will check out their lipsticks too :D

What gorgeous colours. Loving Revlon atm!

They are lovely lipsticks! Me too - I've obviously gone a bit Revlon mad!

Omg I'm completely obsessed with Revlon's lip products. They are so worth the price and the colours are just so gorgeous. I definitely love the swatch of 'pink in the afternoon', reminds me of 'soft suede' which is such a gorgeous soft pink! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so worth the price! That's what I thought - I mean for almost half the price of a MAC you're getting the same quality! I've never seen 'Soft Suede' before but I looked it up online and it looks so pretty!

Aww, thank you for the lovely mention! <3
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the shade Wild Orchid before! It looks gorgeous! I really, really need to get Black Cherry.. Mmm. Oh, & do try more from their Matte line! I love those! x
No problem! :) <3
DeleteI hadn't either but it looked like such a close dupe for MAC Show Orchid which I love the look of! Black Cherry is awesome, and I think it would really suit you too! I can't wait - I might pick up more mattes online tomorrow :D

You've got a nice range of colours there. I really need to get hold of cherries in the snow, such a pretty colour and I've got the partner nail polish. Beautiful swatch photo by the way. :) x
ReplyDeleteThank you! You've made me smile :) I wanted to get the Cherries in the Snow nail polish too, is it nice? I found Cherries in the Snow quite by accident - I couldn't see it anywhere then found it in my small local Boots; hopefully you can get ahold of it!

The nail polish is lovely; a nice hybrid colour between red, pink and orange. I'll have a hunt for the lipstick and check ebay. I've seen the polish around though. :) x
DeleteI just discovered your blog after I clicked on this post, I recently bought The Revlon Lipsticks in shades Mauve it over, Smoked peach, Nude Attitude and Pink in the Afternoon (which I love it as much as my HG MAC lipstick Shy girl. I'm so in love with this shade!!!). I'm so amazed by the quality of Revlon Lipsticks, I think they can even compare to those high end products.
ReplyDeleteMe too! I think they are the best quality high street lipsticks. Mauve it Over and Pink in the Afternon are lovely! :)

Black Cherry (477) looks great on you but I just can't get it to work! I've always found that it goes on incredibly patchy and shows all the flaws in my lips, such a shame as I want to love it! Do you apply it straight from the bullet?
ReplyDeleteI recommend looking at Really Red (006) which is an almost exact dupe for MAC Russian Red and Wild Orchid (457) is almost exactly the same as YSL 19, the Wild Orchid has a little bit of a blue toned pearl to it as opposed to the creamy one toned formula of YSL 19 but to all intents and purposes, the same colour! (wish I'd not wasted my boots points on the YSL now!)
I'm going to have to buy Cherries in the Snow after reading this post. I think I have a Revlon Lipstick addiction, just wish Boots had a bigger range!
Thanks for the post, I've subscribed, looking forward to your future blog posts :)

I just wrote this comment and it disappeared, sorry if I end up commenting twice!
ReplyDeleteI can never get Black Cherry to work on my lips, it always applies patchy for some reason, do you apply it from the bullet?
I always recommend getting Really Red (Matte 006) from Revlon as it's almost an exact dupe for Mac's Ruby Woo and stays put for ever! Another high end drupe is Revlon's Wild Orchid which is a dupe for YSL 19, Wild Orchid has a blueish toned pearl to it and the YSL is a one toned cream but when they're on the lips they're virtually identical! (wish I'd never spent all my Boots points on the YSL now!)
I'm going to have to get Cherries in the Snow after reading this post, I've been mulling over it for ages but you've convinced me! I have a slight Revlon lipstick addiction but just wish Boots and Superdrug had a bigger range of them!
Thanks for this post by the way, I've subscribed to you and look forward to reading more of your posts :)
I always pat black cherry on first, from the bullet, to get a rough indication of an where i want it to go. I then swipe it on from the bullet, but never right to the edges. I use my finger to blend it to the edges, although if I want to darken it up I might add another layer. It is slightly tricky to apply, but I have very thin lips, and so not as much room for it to look bad, I suppose! :P I hope it works for you soon - maybe applying it with a finger or a brush would be a good idea? I have applied it just with my finger before to use as a stain and it's just as pretty.
DeleteA lot of people have been recommending Really Red, and I love me a matte red, so I'll have to check it out! I do have Wild Orchid (it's up there in the post) and have been told it's similar to both YSL and MAC's Show Orchid. It is lovely but very bright!
Cherries in the Snow is gorgeous, it's just a shame it's not available in every store for some weird reason!
No problem, I'm so glad you have commented and subscribed!
