Little MAC Haul!

Hey guys!
A tiny little haul for you today - me and the boyfriend went to Glasgow the other day to get started on Christmas shopping. While I was there I couldn't help but pop into the MAC concession in House of Fraser to check out the new Glitter and Ice Holiday collection. I only got one thing from the new release but picked up a couple of other lovelies too, that I'll show you now.
Also, on another note I'm thinking of doing a Christmas Gift Guide. Any thoughts? Yes or no? :)

On to my haul!

I got four things, which is quite a lot to get from MAC given the price but I fell in love with them all!

The first thing I picked up was the Studio Finish SPF35 Concealer (£13.50 here). I wanted a concealer with SPF for daytime to protect my under eye area and also to cover up any blemishes or pimples. I'd been using a mix of NARS and E.L.F Concealers but I've heard so many good things about this that I had to try it out. I got NW20, which is the same as the foundation I use from MAC but although you are meant to get a shade lighter for concealer NW15 was way too pale. I feared what my mother calls 'the inverse panda eye'. So I got this instead and it lives up to it's claims! Smooth and creamy to apply, long wearing, opaque and doesn't crease badly. It's a great consistency and I've totally fallen in love with it.

The next thing I got was Hue Lipstick (£13.50 here), a Glaze formula is a soft pinky nude. I love this colour and I've seen it talked about a lot (it would appear, by the way that I either go for nudes, reds or amplified pinks) and in comparison to the only other MAC nude I own, Blankety, it's perhaps a more wearable nude because it's softer and more pink. The formula isn't my favourite - I prefer the formula of Amplified (which Blankety is) which is creamier and easier to apply. Glaze lipsticks are harder but also more sheer so if you're looking for a more gentle colour this is it. I found I really had to blend it though to prevent it from looking a little chalky. Still a beautiful colour though!

Love Alert is on the left.

Thirdly I picked up a Dazzleglass in Love Alert (£16.00, here). I'd been eyeing this for a while on blogs, and when I swatched it I couldn't resist. It's a gorgeous red-pink with bright fuchsia sparkle. There were other gorgeous lipglasses such as the beautiful new Pleasure Principle but this had more of an opaque pink colour so I thought it would be more worth it. It's a little sticky, not tacky but just a little sticky, but that's ok with me since it's such a beautiful colour. It's made me want to investigate other MAC lipglosses such as the Cremesheen Glass, Plushglass and Lipglass formulas. Anyone have any recommendations?

The last thing I got, and yet more proof that once you start wearing red lipstick it's impossible to stop, is a lipstick from the Glitter and Ice Collection. It's a matte lipstick called Such Flare! (£14.00 here) (I also like the exclamation mark on the name). This is my first matte MAC lipstick and I have to say I love the formula but it's nowhere near as matte a finish as the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvets. There is a subtle shine and it's very creamy to apply. The colour is a true red with blue undertones. In the store I swatched it next to Ruby Woo (I wish I could have taken a picture) - a lipstick that's on my list, incidentally - and it's not as matte as that.  Because it has cool undertones it's suited to my pale skin but it might just be my unsteady hand that finds this hard to apply as it's very creamy and super pigmented. I would use a lipliner and brush if just starting out with reds.
Anyway, the packaging is cute - I wasn't sure I'd like the white case but it's very retrofuturist. Definitely a lovely lipstick although since it's not going to be permanent I'm sure Ruby Woo would be a good long term replacement.

So, what do you think? What's on your MAC wishlist? Anything from the new collection?
And can you recommend any more lipglosses to me -  MAC or otherwise? I've had my eye on a few from NARS.
Finally (promise) would a gift guide interest you guys at all? If not I might do it for myself for fun anyway but it'd be nice to see what kind of things you'd like to see!

  1. I love Hue, it's so easy to apply, you don't even need a mirror, it's like a gloss! <3

  2. For sure! It's so pretty - I guess I was just a little surprised - it's so different from any lipstick formula I've tried before. Fast becoming one of my favourites though.
